Repairing and Reconnecting

“Lost” asks:
My wife of 27 years moved in with my son two weeks ago. She is now visiting her father for a week, but is 1500 miles away. There’s hardly any communication between us now. What can I text her to get her attention and let her know that I am sorry and that I am still attracted to her? Something to get her really missing me…”

Hey Lost,

The key is to focus on positive aspects of your relationship and to be “unapologetically romantic” with your wife.

Send her messages via text that open up and tell her how you really feel. I don’t know what you need to apologize for (you didn’t say), but the only way forward with a hurt woman is to validate her feelings and let her know — in no uncertain terms — how important, beautiful, and sexy she is.

Good to read you article but i want to say one more thing , things get pretty excited when you make out with your boyfriend or girlfriend and than next day tell them what you like it abt yesterday that’s spice up things for the next time its always a good idea to show them what is coming forward but sometime when the things get passed it is always exciting to talk abt or text abt to prepare for the next time

Typical story, guy pursues girl to no end …she finally gives in (after 6 wks) and unfortunately quickly becomes intimate with guy. now guy seems to only text to have dinner and then hook up. i want to “win” his interest back to more than just sex. i don’t want a serious relationship but i don’t want a “friends with benefits” situation. the sex is amazing and don’t want to give it up — although now i’m kicking myself for being intimate too soon!! i want to gain the upper hand so i’m not the one heart broken ( i got burned my ex very badly and can’t afford to be hurt again). i reluctantly tried an “appreciation text” with no results. HELP PLEASE! Do I play the cool chick too busy for him? Or continue this casual ‘relationship’ and “hope” it turns around –which seems unlikely.

My wife of 22 years has left on a business quest to make it in her industry. It has been nine months since she left and now feels disconnected from me and unhappy with her life. There is hardly any contact from her as she is overwhelmed with work demands. She knows I still Love her but I need some help in reconnecting with her and gaining her interest in me again. All emails and texts so far are about her feelings and not about us. I give her my support love and understanding which doesn’t seem to be enough. Any Ideas

TC and I have been dating almost a year, and were friends for a bit before we actually started dating. He was a great friend and saw me through some tough times, and our relationship is pretty wonderful, for the most part. He treats me well, and I love him. He is smart, funny, kind, loving, generous, and fun to be with. We treat each other with such kindness and respect. It’s the best relationship I have ever had. I feel like it’s what I have always been looking for, except…
I feel like it lacks passion. Things are great, but it has gotten a little routine, and boring. He has a lot of anxiety issues, (he is in therapy for it) so I am sometimes scared to try new things or do something that might cause him to become anxious, but I am starting to get scared that this is it. I love him, and I would love to spend the rest of my life with this man. We currently live together, and talk about the future, but I feel like we are in a rut, and no matter how much I love him, it doesn’t feel good. It feels like a story I have read a hundred times, and though I still love it, it’s getting old, and boring. Am I wrong? Worrying too much?
